Akron's 76th annual All-American Soap Box Derby

AKRON -- The FirstEnergy All-American Soap Box Derby has begun at Derby Downs. 

Boys and girls from all over the world between the ages 7-17 came to Akron to race in the 76th annual race.

Competing in three divisions -- Stock Car, Super Stock and Masters Division -- the racers can earn up to $30,000 in shared scholarship awards.

Opening ceremonies began at 8 a.m. and racing started shortly afterwards.  Winners will be determined at 4 p.m.
