CHARDON TOWNSHIP -- A Chardon man has been charged with shooting a woman about 7:15 p.m. Sunday night during a child exchange.
Geauga County Sheriff's Chief Deputy Scott Hildenbrand tells WKYC that the shooting occured during a child exchange where one parent was handing the child over to the other parent.
Hildebrand said two men got into a fight at the Clark Road house in the front yard. One man punched the other man and the man that got punched happened to have a gun and pulled the gun out after the fight, according to Hildebrand.
The man then put the gun down but the other man who did the punching picked up the gun and shot his wife in the shoulder.
A Medevac helicopter landed in a nearby park and took the woman to MetroHealth Medical Center. Her condition is not known Monday afternoon.
Hildebrand says that Gary Schussler, 50, of Chardon, was charged with felonious assault and having a weapon under disability while intoxicated.
Anthony Molchak, 47, was charged with assault and negligent assault, according to Hildebrand.
Both are in the Geauga County Jail.
The entire incident was captured on a cell phone video but it is not being made available because it will be used as evidence.
