CLEVELAND -- A 1:30 p.m. press conference has been called by Police Chief Michael McGrath to present the final report from the Police Executive Research Forum regarding the department's policies in use of deadly force.
A press release from Mayor Frank Jackson's office says the PERF study, overall "finds the Cleveland Division of Police policies and procedures sound and comprehensive."
The release also indicates McGrath implemented 25 of 26 recommendations to enhance existing policies and training.
The discussion of use of deadly force has been a prominent topic with the Cleveland Police Department since two people died in a hail of police gunfire following a chase last November. The investigation into that incident is ongoing.
Others present at the press conference will be Mayor Frank Jackson and Safety Director Marty Flask.
