WILLOUGHBY HILLS -- A 43-year-old man has been arrested for a murder that happened nine months ago.
Police say Kevin Knoefel was taken into custody Thursday following a lengthy investigation into the Nov. 16, 2012 stabbing death of his wife, Lisa Knoefel.
Knoefel was arrested by Willoughby Hills Police with the assistance of U.S. Marshals. A search warrant was executed at Knoefel's Chagrin Drive home at the time of the arrest.
A Lake County Grand Jury has returned a secret indicted against Knoefel on 11 counts including complicity to aggravated murder, conspiracy to commit aggravated murder and sexual battery.
Immediately after the 2012 murder, Sabrina Zunich, 18, identified in earlier reports as the couple's foster daughter, was arrested and charged in the murder. Her case has not yet been presented to the Lake County Grand Jury and she remains jailed in lieu of bond in the Lake County Jail.
Kevin Knoefel's indictment alleges he "engaged in discussions" with Zunich and "devised multiple plans to murder" his wife in her bedroom while she was asleep.
The indictment also charges that Kevin Knoefel told Zunich his wife was "worth more dead than alive" and even alleges he directed which knife should be used in the stabbing.
