CLEVELAND -- Cleveland's new portable speed cameras are on the move.
The city says the Portable Camera Unit (PCU ) previously located at 4123 Pearl Road is being moved today to the 112th block of Lorain Avenue eastbound.
The city says the portable cameras are being used to help reduce speeding on city streets and increase safety. The units can be placed in areas not accessible to pole-mounted cameras.
Officers are not deployed with the portable units. Instead, an officer will review camera results and determine whether to issue a citation.
The cost of a photo enforcement ticket is $100.
The city says signs will be placed in areas where a portable PCU is deployed to alert drivers. The cameras will be placed in various locations as determined by the City Safety Department and council.
Here is the revised list of current operational PCU locations according to the city:
• 2400 Block of Orange Ave (was previously 4050 Superior Avenue)
• 2416 E. 55th Street
• 2300 St. Clair Avenue
• 3219 Detroit Avenue
• 112th Block of Lorain Eastbound (was previously 4123 Pearl Road)
