LEWISBURG, PA -- The driver of a flatbed truck that was hit by a Cleveland bound Greyhound bus says he tried to help passengers after the collision.
One person is confirmed dead in the crash.
Troopers say the bus, on its way from New York City to Cleveland, hit the back end of the garbage hauling truck just before 2 a.m. near Lewisburg. The bus carried 49 passengers, plus the driver.
The truck driver says the bus driver was trapped in their seat by the impact.
According to a Greyhound spokeswoman, 45 of the 50 on board were taken to the hospital. Four patients are listed as being in critical condition. Two dozen passengers have been treated and released.
Those not hurt in the crash and those released from the hospital have been placed on other buses to resume travel to Cleveland.
The truck hauling garbage from New York was also headed to Ohio.
