CLEVELAND -- Michael Madison appeared in court this morning to face charges in connection with the murders of three women found in East Cleveland.
During an arraignment conducted via closed circuit television, Madison entered not guilty pleas to the charges against him.
The judge continued his bond at $6 million and set a pre-trial hearing for August 6 at 9 a.m. before Judge Nancy McDonnell. Public defenders will be appointed to defend Madison.
When asked by the judge how he was doing, Madison replied, "I've been better." When further questioned if he was feeling up to the arraigment he answered, "Yeah, I'll make it."
Madison, 35, was indicted Monday on multiple charges, including aggravated murder, kidnapping and gross abuse of a corpse.

The bodies of the victims -- Shetisha Sheeley, Angela H. Deskins and Shirellda Terry -- were all found in the same East Cleveland neighborhood earlier this month. Their bodies were wrapped in plastic.
The medical examiner determined Deskins, 38, and Terry, 18, had been strangled. The cause of death for Sheeley, 28, could not be determined and was listed in the medical examiner's report as "homicidal violence by unspecified means."

Madison was arrested July 19 following a two-hour standoff with police.
He had originally been scheduled for an August 1 arraignment but that was moved up so as not to conflict with the Ariel Castro sentencing on Thursday.
